Root-Power bolsters project delivery team
Salford-based battery and energy storage operator Root-Power has strengthened its senior team with the appointment of Roger Kent as senior project manager, supporting the company's next phase of growth.
Roger joins Root-Power with more than 25 years’ international experience delivering complex power generation and renewable energy projects.
His appointment comes as demand for battery energy storage systems continues to grow, driven by the need to modernise the National Grid and support the UK’s energy transition.
In his new role, Roger will oversee the planning, coordination and delivery of Root-Power’s BESS projects, ensuring facilities are delivered to quality, programme and budget requirements while working closely with internal teams and stakeholders.
He said: “Root-Power is building an impressive pipeline of battery storage projects and will be rapidly ramping up construction this year by around 400 per cent.
“It’s exciting to be joining the business at such a pivotal stage of its growth.
“BESS has a critical role to play in strengthening the UK’s energy infrastructure, and I’m looking forward to working with the team to successfully deliver these sites to the highest standard.”
Roger’s appointment supports Root-Power’s ambitious growth plans, with five new BESS sites scheduled for delivery over the next 12 months as part of a wider five-year construction programme, significantly increasing storage capacity and future revenues.
Dan Shore, head of delivery at Root-Power, added: “As we enter the first phase of our five-year construction growth plan and are significantly increasing the scale and pace of our project delivery, it’s essential that we continue to strengthen our leadership and delivery capability.
“Roger’s appointment reflects the scale of our ambition as we bring on board experienced leadership to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest standards.
“He has a proven track record of managing complex, large-scale infrastructure projects and his expertise will be critical as we accelerate our expansion to support the UK’s energy needs.”
