Construction starts on business park pub revamp
Building work has started to transform an ex-pub site into a business hub.
Nano Park Company is building 13 industrial units on the footprint of the former Wappy Spring Inn, in Huddersfield.
Bosses say the 12,000sq ft development will create 120 jobs and “retain the very best young and flourishing companies to foster economic growth”.
They add construction – supported by Percy Pickard Contractors – is slated for completion by summer 2027.
Edward Marshall, director at Bradford-based Nano Park Company, said: “The Wappy Spring was once a famous Huddersfield landmark.
“Sadly, the lack of active use has contributed to ongoing issues, creating an unattractive and problematic space that serves no benefit to the local community.
“Our development provides the opportunity to bring the site back into positive use.
“There are no other similar developments in the Huddersfield area of this size and quality.”
Councillor Cahal Burke, of Kirklees Council, added: “The interest shown in developing this site demonstrates confidence in the local area and its economic potential.
“This development will bring an underused site back into productive use, while delivering lasting benefits for the local economy and community.”
