Equestrian supplies firm gallops on with takeover
An equestrian and pet supplies firm has expanded with a takeover.
DC Holdings (Lincoln) has bought agricultural, equine and pet wholesaler Trilanco.
Bosses say the move for the Lancashire-based operator will “strengthen its position in the equine, pet and animal health markets”.
Under the terms of the deal, Trilanco has joined DC Holdings’ Battles retail arm, with the new combined group led by Battles managing director Richard Dewey Clarke.
Wholesale operations are set to be consolidated at Trilanco’s Wesham distribution centre, based near Preston, with manufacturing and brand management operations remaining in Lincoln.
Richard said: “The markets we service are facing a lot of competitive pressures and the combination of these two historic businesses will enable the enlarged group to better serve customers’ needs.
“We’ve had extensive discussions with the management team at Trilanco and have some exciting plans to share with stakeholders in the weeks ahead.”
Martin Balmer, Trilanco managing director, added: “Having grown the business over the last 45 years, it was personally important to me to see its future growth secured.
“This deal does just that.
“By joining forces with Battles, we can create growth opportunities for our combined teams, customers and brand owners.”
