Sharks score partnership extension with B. Braun
A Sheffield pharmaceutical company has tipped off a new chapter in its long-standing support of local basketball.
B. Braun Medical has renewed its partnership with the B. Braun Sheffield Sharks and B. Braun Sheffield Hatters until 2030.
Backing for the men’s team began in 2008, with support extended to the women’s side in 2023, and both teams now carry the company’s branding on their playing kits.
The sponsorship underpins the “B. Healthy – B. Braun” programme, which delivers basketball and dance coaching, nutrition workshops and competitive opportunities to schools across Sheffield, Rotherham, Barnsley and north east Derbyshire.
As a result, participation at satellite clubs has risen by 15 per cent, while female engagement has increased by 59 per cent through targeted sessions, supporting wider efforts to improve health outcomes among young people in South Yorkshire.
Michael Parden, managing director of B. Braun Medical, said: “We are delighted to continue our support of both the B. Braun Sheffield Sharks and Hatters.
“The B. Healthy - B. Braun programme has made a significant impact on children's health and wellbeing across South Yorkshire, and this renewed partnership ensures we can continue to build on this success.
“We’re proud of our partnership's history and have witnessed remarkable growth in both clubs over the years.
“I look forward to continuing our work together as we promote health, wellness, and sporting excellence across South Yorkshire.”
Marko Backovic, head of operations at B. Braun Sheffield Sharks, added: “B. Braun’s support over the years has played a key role in our growth and community outreach.
“This partnership has enabled us to make a real difference in our community, particularly in encouraging more young people to engage with sport and healthy living. I can’t wait to see what more we can achieve together.”
