Bakery and coffee chain on rise with HQ move
A bakery and coffee chain says its market presence is set to rise after a headquarters and production site move.
Deep North has opened a new base in Ouseburn, Newcastle.
Bosses say it will increase production capacity and “transform the working environment for its 29-strong team”.
They add the venture will also provide room “to continue growing its team and portfolio of stores”, and allow for events including doughnut decorating and barista masterclasses.
Phil King, owner and director of Deep North, which has also opened a new Ouseburn store, said: “Our new headquarters and central production kitchen mark another major milestone.
“We set up Deep North to bring something new to the North East, and the launch of a dedicated events programme is another example of how we’re continuing to do just that.”
Support organisation UMi provided a £40,000 grant to Deep North through the Business Growth Fund, which it managed on behalf of Gateshead Council, the North East Combined Authority and Sunderland City Council.
Phil Sly, UMi specialist adviser, said: “Deep North is a fantastic example of how the right finance and support can help ambitious businesses realise their goals and scale sustainably.”
