Padel operator smashes ahead with new venue

A leisure operator is set to serve up expansion with a new venture.

Pure Padel has secured approval to create a ten-strong indoor court base in Newcastle.

Officials say the 40,000sq ft hub will operate as the “UK’s first purpose-built warehouse designed exclusively for padel… and set a new benchmark for indoor facilities in the North East”.

They add it will operate as Pure Padel’s first centre of excellence, with a tournament-grade show court complemented by a clubhouse and café, bar and sports lounge, and corporate and business events space.

Building work is expected to start in the coming days, with the site – set for Gosforth Business Park – earmarked to open in December.

The expansion comes after Manchester-headquartered Pure Padel launched sites in the city’s Dutton Street and Macclesfield’s Alderley Park, and expanded into Darlington, Stockport, North Leeds and Nottingham.

Sammy Arora, Pure Padel founder and chief executive, said: “Gosforth is a hugely important project.

“There is huge demand for padel across Newcastle and the wider North East, with people travelling significant distances to play, and we’re proud to finally be delivering a facility that matches that appetite.”

The firm is additionally working on sites in Solihull, Glasgow and Lightwater, in Surrey, with further plans for hubs in Birmingham, York, Liverpool and Coulsdon, near Croydon.
