Geobear appoints chief financial officer
Ground engineering specialist Geobear Group has appointed Karita Laakso as chief financial officer.
Karita brings 19 years of experience in financial leadership and will oversee the company’s financial strategy as it continues to expand across seven countries.
She succeeds Matti Tirkkonen in the role.
Her focus will be on strengthening profitability by developing financial management processes and embedding data-led decision-making across the business.
She will also support delivery of Geobear’s three-year growth plan, ensuring the finance function provides reliable, insight-driven support to operations.
Karita previously served as chief financial officer at Lindström Group and most recently at Grano Group, where she led financial management for the commercial printing and marketing services business.
Karita said: “Geobear’s growth strategy, market potential, and dedicated team attracted me to join the company in its next phase of development.
“I look forward to working with the team to strengthen strategic financial performance and support Geobear’s continued success and innovation.”
Otso Lahtinen, chief executive of Geobear Group, added: “Karita is an excellent addition to the implementation of our 2040 growth plan.
“Her financial leadership, analytical approach, and positive attitude will bring us significant added value.
“Our vision is to be the world’s leading company in disturbance-free soil reinforcement, as climate change requires faster and more flexible solutions to geotechnical problems.
“Karita will play a significant role in achieving this growth.”
Otso added: “Matti Tirkkonen has been an important part of Geobear’s management team and has supported us in the implementation of several key development projects during his three-year term.
“We are very grateful for his contribution.”
