Joedan marks anniversary with investment drive
A Gloucestershire-based window and door manufacturer is celebrating four decades in business with a £3 million investment to fuel its next phase of growth.
Joedan, founded in Cheltenham by husband and wife John and Nicky Purcaro, is targeting annual revenues of £35 million by 2030.
The family-run firm, now headquartered in Tewkesbury, plans to open a second manufacturing facility and expand its retail arm.
Employing more than 120 people across its head office and design centres in Winchester and the Isle of Wight, Joedan designs and produces its own Lusso aluminium window and door range for residential and commercial clients.
John said: “The business was literally set-up on our kitchen table, so we’ve come a long way since we made that decision in 1985.
“Nicky gave us three rules to follow.
“Firstly, there was no pressure selling and that has not changed.
“Secondly, we would never open on Bank Holidays or at Christmas, as we still believe people deserve to spend time with their families.
“Finally, and most importantly, the business had to be in the names of our children…that way we knew we wouldn’t fail as I could never see us failing our children!
“These values have stood us in good stead and remain a vital part of the business.”
John added: “We are also committed to moving to the next level and that’s why we’ve just signed off on a £3 million investment plan in new machinery, our network of design centres and, tellingly, in a second manufacturing facility in the Isle of Wight.
“The deal has been completed on this, but it will be a perfect 40th birthday present to ourselves and our team.”
With current turnover at £18 million, the business has strengthened its retail presence through acquisitions and a recent stake in Eden Windows Doors & Conservatories, expanding its footprint across the South East as it builds on 40 years of steady growth.
Managing director Joseph Purcaro, who has been working with his dad since he was 17, added: “There is a real family feel to our business and that flows through the way we manufacture windows and doors, the way we have created our design centres and the way we install products in people’s homes.
“It has stood the test of the time and helped us complete more than 500,000 installations over the last 40 years – that is some achievement.
“Now the focus is on building for the next generation, and we are looking forward to putting the £3 million expansion plans into action over the coming months.”
