British Engines Group expands with 42T deal
A Cambridge-based product development consultancy is set to scale its innovation and manufacturing capabilities after being bought by a century-old engineering group.
42 Technology (42T) has joined Newcastle-headquartered British Engines Group, becoming one of nine businesses within the international organisation, which employs 1600 people worldwide.
Under the terms of the deal, 42T will continue to operate under its existing brand, retaining its leadership team and independent consultancy model.
Bosses say the deal will enable 42T to pursue larger and more complex projects while broadening its innovation and manufacturing offer.
They add access to British Engines’ manufacturing expertise and wider engineering network will open doors to new markets and expand its technical capabilities.
Dr Jon Spratley, chief executive of 42T, said: “Joining British Engines Group will help power 42T’s growth and allow us to build on the strong foundations we already have as a company.
“It’s a major step forward for our business, but we will continue operating exactly as before and nothing will change day-to-day for our clients, partners, internal team or suppliers.”
Alex Lamb, chair of 1922-founded British Engines Group, which operates across a range of engineering sectors, added: “42T brings a highly complementary set of strengths into the group.
“Their consultancy expertise, front-end innovation and strong track record in solving complex, multi-disciplinary problems make them the ideal fit.
“The acquisition will give British Engines access to 42T’s significant expertise in industrial edge AI, sensing, automation and intelligent systems, which aligns with our long-term ambitions.
“These capabilities will be invaluable for other companies within the group that are continuously looking to improve on their world-class manufacturing processes.”
