The Auckland Project appoints marketing director
Bishop Auckland-based regeneration charity The Auckland Project has appointed Stephen Reed as director of marketing and communications to support the continued growth of its cultural and heritage offer.
Stephen brings more than 20 years’ experience in international advertising agencies, having worked as a planning director on brands including the NHS, Blacks Outdoor and Marston’s.
Over the past decade, he has operated as a consultant, supporting marketing-led growth across commercial, public and third sector organisations.
His experience also includes work with cultural institutions such as The Glasshouse in Gateshead and Newcastle’s Discovery Museum.
In his new role, he will lead marketing and communications across The Auckland Project’s portfolio of galleries, heritage attractions, hospitality venues and parkland as it continues its regeneration mission in County Durham.
Stephen said: “The Auckland Project is a unique and ambitious organisation with a powerful story to tell.
“I’m excited to be joining the team to act as a catalyst – helping sharpen our voice, extend our reach and ensure our work resonates locally, regionally and nationally – while also helping build on the strong foundations already in place, ensuring our work reaches and resonates with as many people as possible.”
Jane Ruffer, chief executive at The Auckland Project, added: “Stephen brings exceptional depth of experience in strategic marketing and communications, alongside a strong understanding of how organisations connect meaningfully with their audiences.
“As The Auckland Project continues to evolve, his leadership will be invaluable in strengthening our profile and ensuring our story is told with clarity, ambition and impact.”
