TAB appoints senior business partner
The Alternative Board (TAB), the global peer advisory and executive coaching organisation, has appointed Maarten Jonckers as senior business partner in the Thames Valley.
Maarten brings decades of retail leadership experience, having served as buying and merchandising director at Harrods.
He later founded an executive search business focused on the retail sector and has spent the past decade supporting privately owned businesses through growth and organisational change.
In his new role, Maarten will work with SME founders and leadership teams across the Thames Valley, providing peer advisory support and executive coaching.
Maarten, who is also a former business owner and joined a peer advisory board during the sale of his company, said: “During my exit, I was facing unfamiliar decisions and needed objective insight.
“My peer board helped me avoid costly mistakes and provided clarity when everything felt uncertain.
“You can cut through the jungle with a machete, but if there is a path, why not take that?
“That is exactly what TAB provides for business owners: the path.”
TAB operates internationally, helping business owners improve decision-making and performance through confidential peer boards and strategic planning tools.
Maarten’s appointment strengthens its presence in one of the UK’s most active regional business communities.
David Abbott, who leads TAB in Thames Valley West, added: “Maarten brings a rare blend of disciplined approach hands‑on business ownership and a deep understanding of the emotional and practical realities of leadership.
“He has lived the peer board experience and understands its value completely.
“He brings energy, integrity and a genuine commitment to helping others succeed.
“Maarten joining us strengthens everything we offer to business owners in the region.”
