264-home Fulham scheme completed

A new west London housing scheme has reached completion, bringing 264 homes to the market, 50 per cent of them affordable.

Chelsea Botanica in Fulham has been delivered by housing association Peabody and property developer Mount Anvil, with backing from the Greater London Authority and Hammersmith and Fulham Council.

The scheme provides 83 homes for London Affordable Rent and 50 for Shared Ownership, helping meet local demand and offering options for households on the council’s waiting list and first-time buyers priced out of the market.

Located near Imperial Park and the Thames Path, the development includes shared gardens and landscaped spaces designed to promote wellbeing and biodiversity, created in partnership with the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew.

Low-carbon features such as solar panels and air source heat pumps have also been incorporated, aligning the project with London’s wider sustainability and affordable housing ambitions.

Tom Copley, deputy mayor of London for housing and residential development, joined representatives from Peabody, Mount Anvil and the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham Council to mark the completion of the development.

Mr Copley said: “I am delighted that City Hall funding was able to help support the completion of nearly 300 new homes in Fulham, providing much needed new affordable housing in the borough.

“With a significant number of these properties available at London affordable rent levels, as well as Shared Ownership homes, this is good news for local families and the wider community as we continue to work to build a fairer, more prosperous London for everyone.”

Simon Barry, regional managing director for London South at Peabody, added: “In a city where so many people are feeling the strain of high housing costs, the completion of these homes will come as good news for many local families.

“It’s great to see people moving in and putting down roots in Fulham, close to parks, the river, and everything this vibrant part of London has to offer.”

Marcus Bate, partnerships, planning, communities and sustainability director at Mount Anvil, added: “We are proud to stand alongside our partners at Peabody and Hammersmith and Fulham Council to hand over these completed homes for this community.

“Chelsea Botanica is a landmark development for several reasons - the significant number of affordable homes we’ve delivered together, its fantastic riverside location, and outstanding sustainability credentials, to name a few.

“We look forward to now seeing residents move into these new homes and enjoy all this neighbourhood and community has to offer.”
