Logic-i secures TVL project role

A Teesside project management consultancy has secured a role on a landmark clean energy development set to support the UK’s electric vehicle supply chain.

Logic-i Group has been appointed by Tees Valley Lithium (TVL) to provide independent cost estimate assurance and validation services for the company’s lithium refinery project at Billingham.

The Yarm-headquartered firm will assess whether project costs are realistic, complete and aligned with the delivery strategy, helping strengthen governance and investor confidence as the development progresses.

Stephen Priestley, director at Logic-i Group, said: “As a Tees Valley-based business, it’s particularly rewarding to support a project of this scale and strategic importance in our ‘home’ region.

“The Tees Valley Lithium Project exemplifies the type of complex energy transition infrastructure where independent cost assurance is critical.

“Our role is to bring clarity around estimate credibility, delivery realism and risk exposure, enabling confident investment decisions while supporting the region’s low-carbon ambitions.”

The Tees Valley Lithium Project project is expected to become Britain’s first large-scale lithium hydroxide refinery, producing battery-grade material used in electric vehicles and energy storage systems.

Developed by TVL, a subsidiary of Alkemy Capital Investments, the facility aims to reduce the UK and Europe’s reliance on overseas lithium refining while positioning Teesside as a key hub in the low-carbon battery materials supply chain.

Phase one of the project is expected to produce around 25,000 tonnes of battery-grade lithium hydroxide annually, supporting up to 500,000 electric vehicles each year.

Vikki Jeckell, chief executive of Teesside Lithium, added: “This project is about building long-term industrial capability in Teesside and strengthening the UK’s domestic battery materials supply chain.

“Working with a Tees Valley-based consultancy that brings national and international expertise adds both local insight and technical rigour.

“Logic-i Group’s independent cost assurance strengthens confidence as we move toward the next phase of development.”

Construction is anticipated to begin later in 2026 following the pre-construction phase, with initial production targeted for 2028.
