Blueprint backed for 75-affordable home scheme
Plans for a 75-home development have been approved.
Karbon Homes is set to create an estate at Ryhope Colliery, in Sunderland.
Bosses say the scheme – which will sit on former Tunstall Poultry Farm land – will include 50 rent to buy properties and 25 affordable rent homes.
They add building work will start in the coming days, with the venture – which will include two, three and four-bed houses, two-bed bungalows and one-bed apartments – earmarked for completion by summer 2028.
Karbon Homes is working alongside Eaglescliffe-based lead contractor Oaktree Living on the development, which has been designed by Gateshead architect Ergo Projects and will include solar panels and electric vehicle charging points.
Zoey Hawthorne, group director of development at Newcastle-headquartered Karbon Homes, said: “We’re really pleased to have secured permission to build this development.
“We hope local residents will welcome access to good quality, affordable housing in their local area.”
John Seymour, of Oaktree Living, added: “We’re looking forward to getting on site and progressing a development that will provide much-needed housing and support jobs and investment in the local area during the construction phase.”
The scheme is backed by Homes England funding.
