Port of Sunderland appoints business development manager
Port of Sunderland has strengthened its commercial team with the appointment of Anth Phinn as business development manager.
Anth will work alongside port director Matthew Hunt and commercial manager Sven Richards to support client relationships and identify new opportunities aligned with the port’s strategic priorities.
He joins from Royal Dutch LV Logistics, where he was UK agency manager overseeing operations and key client accounts, and previously worked at Clarksons Port Services.
Anth said: “As someone who is from the North East and lives locally, I’m proud to be joining Port of Sunderland at such an exciting point in its journey.
“The port has built a fantastic reputation for being agile, commercially focused and customer driven and that really appealed to me.
“It has also carved out a reputation for being a hub of circular economy and advanced materials handling activity, both of which are areas I’m incredibly passionate about.
“I’m really looking forward to working with Matthew, Sven and the rest of the team to strengthen existing client relationships, attract new private sector investment and play a significant role in helping to write the next chapter in the history of the port.”
Anth’s appointment comes as the port continues to grow its activity across commodities, the circular economy and offshore oil, gas and renewable energy supply chains.
Matthew Hunt, director at Port of Sunderland, added: “We are delighted that Anth has agreed to join us as our new business development manager.
“He brings with him a wealth of experience from across the maritime, offshore and commodity sectors.
“Just as importantly, he understands the region and the importance of the port to the North East economy.
“With Sven leading our commercial strategy and Anth focused on business development and client engagement, I am confident we have a strong team in place to support our customers and build on the significant momentum we’ve generated in recent years.”
