Steeton nursing home appoints activities coordinator

Currergate Nursing Home in Steeton has appointed Emma Bland as activities coordinator.

Emma brings experience in customer-facing roles and team leadership, having previously spent ten years managing pubs in Keighley and Skipton for a national chain and five years working in banking customer services.

In her new role, she will plan and deliver a programme of activities designed to support residents’ wellbeing, independence and social interaction.

Emma said: “Joining Currergate Nursing Home is an opportunity to work in a creative role that brings people together in a meaningful way and it’s hugely rewarding to see all the residents enjoying themselves.

“I’m looking forward to getting to know the residents more, hearing their stories, and producing activities that make each day enjoyable, stimulating and full of laughter.”

Owned and managed by Saltaire-based Czajka Care Group, Currergate Nursing Home recently expanded with a new orangery and a three-storey extension adding 15 en-suite rooms, increasing capacity to 47 residents.

Vicky Stainburn, manager at Currergate Nursing Home, added: “Emma’s background gives her strong organisational skills, creativity and a genuine passion for working with people, which is all important in her new role supporting residents’ physical, mental and social wellbeing.

“Activities play an important role in our residents’ quality of life and there’s no doubt that Emma is already bringing fresh ideas and energy to the role, in an engaging and homely environment, so she’s a great addition to our team.”
