Van Gogh experience heads to Newcastle
An immersive art exhibition is set to arrive in Newcastle this summer, bringing the works of one of history’s most celebrated painters to life through large-scale projections and music.
Beyond Van Gogh The Immersive Experience will take over the floor of Utilita Arena Newcastle from July 12 to August 9, transforming the venue into a 10,000sq ft digital gallery.
Produced by Annerin Productions and Paquin Entertainment Group, the exhibition uses projection technology and a specially curated soundtrack to animate more than 300 artworks by Vincent van Gogh.
Visitors will walk through moving interpretations of famous paintings including The Starry Night, Sunflowers and Café Terrace at Night.
Caroline James, general manager of Utilita Arena Newcastle, said: “We’re thrilled to host Beyond Van Gogh at the arena this summer.
“It’s a visually stunning production that transforms the space in a completely different way and will draw visitors from across the North East and beyond.”
The experience has already attracted millions of visitors worldwide and is expected to welcome tens of thousands of people during its 29-day Newcastle run.
Alongside the main gallery, the exhibition will include a reflection area inspired by Van Gogh’s work, offering visitors an additional interactive space.
Special sessions will also be scheduled throughout the event, including SEND-friendly visits, adult-only evening viewings and immersive yoga experiences.
Anna Parry, UK business development at Annerin Productions, added: “We’re incredibly excited to bring Beyond Van Gogh to Newcastle.
“The North East has such a strong cultural identity, and this experience allows visitors to step directly inside Vincent’s extraordinary world.
“More than seven million people globally have experienced the show so far, and we can’t wait for audiences here to immerse themselves in these powerful, beautiful works in a completely new way.”
Tickets will be released in stages, with a pre-sale beginning on March 9 ahead of general sale opening on March 13.
