140-home Gosforth scheme approved
A North East housebuilder has secured planning approval for a new residential development that will deliver family homes and community infrastructure in Newcastle.
Barratt and David Wilson Homes has been granted full planning permission for a 140-home development in Gosforth, approved as a Neighbourhood Growth Area under the Newcastle Gateshead Core Strategy and Urban Core Plan.
The scheme will include a mix of properties, with 15 per cent designated as affordable housing through discount market value and affordable rent options.
A further 37 homes will be designed as accessible and adaptable housing.
Plans also include open green space and an informal play area aimed at supporting community life within the development.
As part of the project, the housebuilder will contribute around £1.2 million through the Community Infrastructure Levy and more than £2 million in Section 106 funding to support local services and improvements.
Jo Ainsley, managing director at Barratt and David Wilson Homes North East, said: “We’re delighted to have been granted planning permission for this new development in Gosforth.
“We are committed to delivering high-quality, energy efficient homes that help meet the housing demand across Tyne and Wear.”
Construction will begin following roadworks on Rotary Way.
