Event – Building confidence in workplace investigations
When disciplinary or grievance issues arise in the workplace, how an employer responds can have lasting consequences for trust, morale and organisational culture.
A thorough investigation is often the foundation of a fair outcome.
By gathering the relevant facts, approaching situations objectively and ensuring consistent processes are followed, employers can avoid assumptions, minimise risk and maintain employee confidence.
Yet for many managers and HR professionals, handling investigations can feel complex and sensitive – particularly when navigating difficult conversations, conflicting witness accounts or questions around confidentiality.
To help employers build confidence and practical skills in this area, workplace training provider Acas is hosting an interactive online training event titled Mock Investigation on March 25.
Delivered as an immersive session, the training presents a realistic, acted workplace scenario that follows the full disciplinary investigation process from beginning to end.
Through the scenario, participants will see best practice in action and gain insight into the different challenges that can arise during workplace investigations.
Led by Acas experts, the session will guide attendees through key stages including deciding whether an investigation is required, preparing for the process, carrying out investigation meetings and managing different types of witnesses.
The training will also explore important principles such as confidentiality, fairness and evidence evaluation, helping participants develop the confidence to reach balanced conclusions and handle sensitive situations effectively.
Designed for HR professionals, line managers, team leaders, senior managers and small business owners, the session is particularly valuable for those responsible for handling disciplinary or grievance matters within their organisation.
Delivered online via Zoom, the three-hour session will feature case studies, acted role-play demonstrations, videos, quizzes and opportunities for participants to ask questions through live chat.
The training takes place from 9.30am to 12.30pm on March 25, with places priced at £170 per person (VAT exempt).
Attendees will receive a digital certificate, a handout containing useful resources and a copy of the presentation slides following the session.
