Sign maker adds thrust with major airport contract
A sign maker has boosted its order book with a seven-figure travel hub deal.
Astra Group has installed directional displays across Manchester Airport’s Terminal 2 building.
The work – part of a wider £1.3 billion airport upgrade – included external gate signage, wall-mounted maps, flight information displays, directional signs and room and lift directories.
Manchester and Surrey-based Astra Group worked with contractors MACE Group and BAM Construction on the two-year project.
Paul Dyke, group sales director, said: “The priority throughout was to create a wayfinding experience that genuinely supports passengers – reducing stress, improving accessibility and contributing to a safe and intuitive journey.
“The scheme also plays an important role in reinforcing a strong sense of brand and place, while supporting the terminal’s wider commercial objectives.”
The project added to work that saw Astra Group design, make and install exterior, neon graphic, infinity mirror and large-format LED displays for Manchester’s Co-op Live entertainment arena.
Astra Group also counts Manchester City Football Club, BT, Hilton Hotels & Resorts, London Gatwick Airport and Arnold Clark as clients.
