Doncaster care home sale secures jobs

A Doncaster care provider has secured its future after a sale that protects jobs and ensures continuity of services for vulnerable residents.

St Mary’s Care Home has been sold following 15 months of trading in administration, with joint administrators Hilary Pascoe and Andrew Knowles of Leonard Curtis overseeing the process.

The deal safeguards 36 jobs and ensures care provision continues for 32 residents at the home, which is registered to accommodate up to 56 people.

Hilary said: “We were confident in the advice of our agents that continuing to trade St Mary’s as a going concern would help us achieve the best value from any sale while maintaining employment for the staff and continued care to the residents.”

During the administration period, clinical consultants Cornerstone Care Solutions supported day-to-day care operations while improvements were implemented.

These changes led to the home’s Care Quality Commission rating improving from ‘Requires Improvement’ to ‘Good’ in August 2025, reflecting strengthened governance and service delivery.

Following a marketing process managed by Christie & Co, the property has been acquired for an undisclosed sum by Town Field Care Limited, which will operate the home alongside its existing care facility in Leeds.

Jonathan Wickens, director at Care at Christie & Co, added: “St Mary’s generated substantial interest with operators from across the UK submitting offers and we are pleased to have secured a sale to Town Field Care Limited.

“This sale further highlights the demand we are experiencing for care homes across the Yorkshire region from local and national operators.”

A director at Town Field Care Limited added: “We are absolutely delighted to become the new owners of St Mary’s and are eager to continue to build our presence in the Yorkshire region.

“We would like to extend our thanks to all parties involved in this complex sale.

“Our primary focus will be on providing a caring and supportive home for all our residents, and we look forward to working closely with the exceptional staff team to carry on the good work that has been fostered at the home.”

Legal and auction support on the transaction was provided by JMW Solicitors and John Pye & Sons.
