Plans submitted for 125-home Hunmanby scheme

Plans for a new housing development in a North Yorkshire village have been submitted to the local council following community consultation.

Developer Banks Property has lodged an application with North Yorkshire Council to build up to 125 homes on a five-hectare site to the west of Muston Road in Hunmanby, near Filey.

The scheme, called Milk Field, would include a mix of property types designed to meet local housing needs, alongside a 15 per cent provision of affordable homes.

Plans also outline new public open spaces and green corridors within the development, while the project is expected to deliver a biodiversity net gain of at least ten per cent.

Banks Property previously held a consultation event in the village in December, where members of the project team met local residents to present the proposals and gather feedback.

The County Durham-based developer says comments from the event have helped shape the planning application now under consideration.

Jamilah Hassan, community relations manager at the Banks Group, said: “We were really pleased with the range and volume of positive feedback we had from local people at our consultation last year and are now excited to reach this important project landmark.

“Milk Field will be a high-quality development in which we’re looking to create a range of sustainable, contemporary homes in a location that is well connected to local facilities and that will give more people the opportunity to stay in or move to the area.

“We’ll continue to keep the local community up to date with the project’s progress and hope the members of North Yorkshire Council’s planning committee will be minded to support it when it comes before them later in the year.”

If approved by North Yorkshire Council, the proposal is expected to be reviewed by the authority’s planning committee later this year, with construction potentially starting on site by spring 2028.
