Bowling operator rolls on with city development
A leisure operator is striking for growth after starting work on a multi-million-pound development.
Hollywood Bowl Group has begun construction on a Cardiff venue.
Bosses say the “first-of-its-kind” endeavour – known as Hollywood Bowl XL St David’s – will include a 20-lane bowling alley, interactive darts, electric go-karting and a sports bar.
Based inside St David’s shopping centre, they add the 45,000sq ft development will also feature an arcade, pool tables and food and drink outlets.
The two-floor investment – earmarked to open in the summer – will complement an existing Hollywood Bowl site in Cardiff Bay’s Red Dragon Centre.
Stephen Burns, Hollywood Bowl Group chief executive, said: “This marks a key step in our growth and expansion across the UK.
“Cardiff has a thriving leisure culture, and we are excited to be able to deliver a second site in the city, creating more local employment and enjoyable, affordable experiences.”
Helen Morgan, St David’s centre director, added: “This is a bold step in further enhancing our unique mix of brands, eateries and immersive experiences for guests.”
