Next phase approved for city housing scheme
A sustainable housing development in Glasgow is set to expand after securing planning approval for its next phase.
Glasgow City Council has approved plans for the third phase of Dundashill, led by igloo Regeneration, which will deliver 88 new homes as part of a wider 600-home masterplan.
The development will feature a mix of apartments, duplexes and townhouses, designed to meet a range of housing needs while offering views across the city and canal.
Built on the site of a former distillery, the scheme places a strong focus on sustainability, with homes incorporating air source heat pumps, electric vehicle charging and low-energy design using locally sourced materials.
The project also includes landscaped communal areas, play spaces and allotments to support wellbeing and biodiversity, with architecture by Stallan Brand and HAUS Collective and landscaping by Rankin Fraser.
Gary Watt, development director at igloo, said: “We’re delighted to receive planning approval for the third phase of Dundashill, and thank the City Design and Planning teams at Glasgow City Council for helping us shape the proposal to match our collective ambition for this exciting new neighbourhood.
“This milestone really does bring us one step closer to delivering a special place with its own unique identity, right in the heart of Glasgow.”
Claire McGinley, associate at HAUS Collective, added: “In close collaboration with Stallan-Brand, HAUS has shaped a masterplan rooted in community, prioritising social interaction and the creation of meaningful connections between neighbours.
“The contrasting yet complementary typologies developed by each practice contribute to a layered and diverse urban fabric, enriching the character of Dundashill while reinforcing the ambitions of the wider masterplan.
“Securing planning approval marks an important step forward and we look ahead to delivering a new neighbourhood of high-quality homes that will strengthen the city’s residential offer and foster a sense of place.”
Dundashill’s latest phase builds on the success of earlier stages, which have received multiple industry awards for sustainable design, as the development continues to take shape as a flagship residential scheme in Glasgow.
