£17.6 million police firearms training hub hits new heights
Work to create a £17.6 million police base has reached a milestone phase.
Builders have topped out Staffordshire Police’s new firearms training hub.
Set to include a ten lane, 50-metre indoor firing range, bosses say the Stafford-based two-storey site will help “officers prepare for complex and high-risk situations”.
The base is planned to open later this year.
Work on the training centre has been led by Morgan Sindall Construction’s Midlands business, alongside Blue Sky Architects, Appleyard and Trew, DSSR Consulting Engineers and WML Consulting.
Richard Fielding, Morgan Sindall Construction Midlands area director, said: “Reaching this milestone is a real moment of pride for everyone involved.
“We’re immensely proud to be playing our part in creating a high-quality facility.”
Becky Riggs, Staffordshire Police acting chief constable, added: “We are fortunate not to have many firearms incidents in Staffordshire.
“But, when they are needed, we must ensure our firearms officers are highly trained and effective.
“This new facility will mean we have officers with the highest quality training and assessment who can respond effectively.”
