Firm expands council work with recruitment venture
A business support services firm has secured a local authority contract.
Commercial Services Group is working with Swindon Borough Council to found a recruitment agency.
Bosses say the move will “create jobs, support businesses and strengthen the workforce” at the authority.
They add the venture – set to launch later this year – will create an initial five posts and “help bring the recruitment of temporary, freelance and consultant staff closer to the council and the communities it serves”.
It will also work with schools, colleges and third-sector organisations.
The agreement builds on existing Commercial Services Group partnerships with authorities including Kent County Council, Hampshire County Council and Luton Borough Council.
Rob Boyles, chief executive at West Malling-based Commercial Services Group, said: “We look forward to supporting Swindon Borough Council as it realises the benefits of our approach.”
Sonia Grewal, Swindon Borough Council’s chief operating officer, added: “This partnership is about creating opportunities for local people and building a workforce that is closely connected to the communities we serve.
“By working with Commercial Services Group, we can build a stronger local talent pipeline, support local businesses and create meaningful routes into employment.”
Commercial Services Group also works with Surrey County Council, Dudley Borough Council, Dorset Council, Halton Borough Council and the London Borough of Hackney.
