Freight firm adds thrust with airport expansion

A warehousing and transport firm has expanded with an aviation site deal.

Jaymac Solutions has moved into a 1.8-acre space at Teesside International Airport.

It says the hub will provide warehousing, packaging and delivery support for air freight operations at the base, which were bolstered last week by European Cargo’s UK-to-China service.

Officials add the venture will act as the company’s sixth North East base, with its estate including a Darlington site that services around 900 Aldi stores nationwide.

Wes Thompson, Jaymac Solutions’ chief executive, said: “We are absolutely delighted to play an integral role in the expanding commercial and cargo operations at the airport.

“We hope our investment confirms our commitment to the North East and highlights our ambition to continue to create opportunities and growth in the region.”

Victoria Ashby, Teesside International Airport’s head of property and development, added: “Jaymac’s expansion reflects the confidence businesses have in the opportunities here.

“Their presence will help drive further job creation, attract new investment and reinforce the airport’s role as a key economic gateway for the region.”

Jaymac Solutions’ portfolio also includes a Team Valley packaging site, a Washington pallet-making base and offices and showrooms at Newburn, Newcastle.
