York sleepout returns to tackle homelessness
A community initiative is returning to raise funds and awareness for homelessness support in York.
York City Football Club Foundation has launched its Charity Sleepout 2026, aiming to build on more than £80,000 raised across three previous events.
The initiative will support local charities Kitchen for Everyone York and HOPING Street Kitchen, helping provide frontline services for rough sleepers and support for families facing food poverty.
The event is backed by York City Supporters Trust, whose donation will help cover running costs, ensuring funds raised go directly to those in need.
Media support will again come from YO1 Radio, alongside sponsorship from BoConcept.
The Foundation is now calling for participants willing to spend a night outdoors on April 30 to raise funds and highlight the growing issue of homelessness in the city.
Seth Sowerby, chairperson of York City Supporters Trust, said: “York City Supporters’ Trust are proud to partner with York City Foundation to sponsor the York Charity Sleepout.
“This event makes a real difference in our community, and supporting it aligns with our commitment to making a positive impact beyond the football pitch.
“Together, we stand united in raising awareness and vital funds to tackle homelessness and support those in need within our city.”
