Robot-built housing scheme nears completion

A County Durham housing development is approaching completion after using innovative robotic technology to support construction.

JT Lifestyle Homes has unveiled new images of its Maple Close scheme in Thornley, where seven four-bedroom detached homes are almost complete.

The development is the first in the UK to use a wall-laying robot, known as WLTR or ‘Walter’, which has been used to improve precision and build quality.

Dr Jan Telensky, owner and founder of JT Lifestyle Homes, said: “We are incredibly excited to showcase these properties in Thornley.

“Our vision for this development was always to offer cutting-edge technology which would speed up building time alongside an innovative scheme which would allow young people and families much-needed help to take their first steps on the housing ladder.

“To see it coming to life is a really proud moment for the team.”

The homes are being sold through a scheme designed to help first-time buyers save for a deposit through rental payments.

Each property features energy-efficient design, modern interiors and premium fixtures, with a show home now open to visitors.

The first phase of the development is expected to be completed by the end of March.

Dr Telensky added: “From the foundations to the final finishes, no detail has been overlooked in making these homes truly stunning.

“We wanted this development to be something special and we really feel as if we have achieved that.”
