Heating parts firm fires up growth with factory move
An electric heating technology parts maker says it is poised to fire fresh growth after extending factory capacity.
Kanthal has boosted its Perth-based silicon carbide heating element plant.
Bosses say the 1750sq metre move – which includes extra manufacturing space, new equipment and additional warehousing – will meet “increasing demand for sustainable high-temperature heating solutions”.
They add the company has founded a service centre at a sister North Carolina factory, which, when combined with its Perthshire hub, provides larger scope to “capture growing global demand.”
Robert Stål, Kanthal president, said: “Perth is an important location.
“With this expansion, we strengthen our ability to meet our customers’ needs and reinforce our position as a trusted partner.”
Simon Lile, Kanthal president of business unit heating systems, added: “Both locations are now fully operational, increasing the available production capacity for these products by approximately 40 per cent.
“We are not just increasing capacity; we have also added capability, which will enable new product and application developments that can cater for larger electrical heating solutions.”
