Engineers help deliver Northern Energy site
A Yorkshire engineering firm is supporting the delivery of a major energy infrastructure project as it nears completion.
HJ Consulting Engineers, based in Wakefield, is providing civil and structural engineering services for Northern Energy’s new office and maintenance facilities at Marton cum Grafton, near York.
The development forms part of a wider investment by Northern Energy to create modern, future-ready infrastructure to support its long-term operations.
HJCE has been involved throughout the project, from initial concept through to detailed design, contributing to the delivery of a purpose-built head office and vehicle maintenance building using low-carbon construction methods.
Andrew Fairburn, HJCE’s managing director, said: “It’s rewarding to see the vision now becoming a fully realised facility that will support Northern Energy’s continued growth for years to come.
“This is a fantastic project to be involved in, delivering an impressive development alongside a collaborative client and a strong professional team.
“It also showcases our engineering capabilities together with the skills and expertise available locally to help bring forward ambitious commercial property investments and detailed design work.”
The scheme builds on an earlier phase completed in 2024, which included core site infrastructure and gas storage facilities.
James Illingworth, director at Northern Energy, added: “Our commitment to investing in phase II of a multi-million-pound development is a major milestone for our operations.
“Working alongside our in-house team and other partners, the HJCE team is an integral partner in creating a high-quality commercial building that’s rapidly nearing completion.”
The project team also includes SPX Architects, HACS Group and Banks Smith Partnership.
