3OU bolsters low-carbon expertise with merger

A Leeds-based building services group has strengthened its low-carbon offering through a strategic merger aimed at expanding its capabilities in sustainable design.

3OU Holdings, the group behind Verisys Ltd and Kaizen Consulting Engineers Ltd, has merged with Decarbonised Ltd to create a three-business portfolio focused on the built environment.

Founded in 2022, 3OU has grown to a 35-strong team with a combined turnover of £3 million across its existing businesses.

The addition of Decarbonised enhances the group’s technical expertise, particularly in building performance and environmental modelling.

Decarbonised specialises in analysing energy use, airflow, daylighting and temperature control to support the delivery of low-carbon, high-performing buildings.

Its building physics capability complements Verisys’ commissioning services and Kaizen’s design consultancy, creating a more integrated offer.

Christian Southee, who founded Decarbonised and will continue as its director, said: “This merger is the result of a relationship built on trust and a shared vision for what the built environment should look like.

“Phil, Leigh, and Chris have been long-standing supporters of Decarbonised, and joining the group feels like the logical next step for our growing business, our team, and our clients.

“Together, we have a real opportunity to set a new standard for building performance and help clients design and deliver buildings that are fit for the future.”

Phil Riddeal, director of 3OU Holdings, added: “We have worked closely with Christian and the Decarbonised team for a number of years and have long admired what they have built.

“Bringing Decarbonised into the group is a natural next step as its expertise in building physics and energy services is paramount to the success of any project in the built environment.

“Together, we are closing the loop on early building physics work and validating design for performance, which sets us apart and helps our clients achieve their ESG goals.

“We look forward to strengthening the team further in the months ahead.”
