Dalton Park bags double tourism win
A North East retail and leisure destination has secured national recognition for its commitment to sustainability and inclusive visitor experiences.
Dalton Park Outlet & Outdoors has achieved a double win at the North East Tourism Awards, taking Gold in the Regenerative Tourism category and Silver for Accessible and Inclusive Tourism.
The awards reflect a long-term strategy centred on environmental improvement, community engagement and accessibility.
Spanning 55 acres, the site, which is in Murton, County Durham, has been created from reclaimed land and now features woodland, wetlands and wildflower meadows, alongside a dedicated Pollinator Parks Garden to support biodiversity.
In addition, the outlet has introduced a range of sustainability initiatives, including solar energy generation, water refill stations and an e-bike charging hub, contributing to reduced emissions and lower single-use plastic use.
Community partnerships have supported wellbeing walks, educational programmes and environmental projects, while accessibility measures include quiet shopping periods, sensory support tools and improved wayfinding.
Owned by Patron Capital and managed by Global Mutual, Dalton Park continues to combine retail performance with a focus on sustainability and inclusion.
Richard Kaye, centre manager at Dalton Park, said: “Winning Gold for Regenerative Tourism and Silver for Accessible and Inclusive is a fantastic achievement for the entire park and reflects our commitment to creating a destination that is both environmentally responsible and genuinely inclusive.
“We are proud to offer a retail and leisure experience that goes beyond shopping to one that connects visitors with nature, supports our local community and ensures everyone feels welcome.
“These awards are a testament to the passion and dedication of Dalton Park and we remain focused on continuing this journey in the years ahead.”
