Builder secures work on £29.3 million school plan
A building contractor has secured a deal to lead a £29.3 million education project.
Morgan Sindall Construction has been appointed to deliver a three-storey teaching block at Southall’s Villiers High School.
Bosses say the scheme will replace a 1960s building with an “energy-efficient facility designed to expand capacity, improve learning environments and support growing demand for school places.”
They add the block will include 22 classrooms, 11 science laboratories, six IT/media suites, staff and welfare space and a rooftop garden.
Work is set to be completed by late 2027.
Under the terms of the agreement, Morgan Sindall Construction will also oversee an Employment and Skills Plan – alongside Ealing Council, West London College, Jobcentre Plus, Construction Youth Trust and Bounce Back – which it says will help deliver ten jobs, three apprenticeships, 16 work experience placements and a T-Level opportunity.
Richard Dobson, Morgan Sindall Construction’s London area director, said: “With all the development taking place in the Southall area, thanks to the creation of the Elizabeth line, it’s vital the local educational infrastructure can meet the demands of the growing community.
“We’re delighted to support Villiers High School’s expansion.”
Christopher Richards, Villiers High School headteacher, said: “We have reached a pivotal moment for our community.
“We have been working to ensure these facilities meet the needs of our growing school, and this development will play a key role in delivering that vision.”
Morgan Sindall Construction was appointed to deliver the project by Ealing Council.
Councillor Josh Blacker, the authority’s cabinet member for a fairer start, added: “Expanding provision at Villiers High School will support future generations while delivering wider benefits through skills, training and local employment.”
