Management buyout secures McGowan’s future

A Scottish environmental engineering firm is entering a new phase of growth following a management buyout.

McGowan Environmental’s leadership team has completed a deal to acquire the Aviemore-based business from BRUSH Group, ensuring continuity for its workforce and operations.

The transaction was led by contracts manager Sam Hesling and operations manager Kyle McGowan, who have both been appointed as directors.

McGowan Environmental will continue to trade under its existing name, with all 24 employees retained.

Specialising in environmental engineering projects, the firm delivers work across river and peatland restoration, wetland creation and outdoor access infrastructure for clients across the UK and Ireland.

The deal marks a strategic step for the business, enabling it to build on recent investment in equipment, technology and design capabilities, particularly in peatland restoration, while supporting further growth across its environmental project portfolio.

Following the buyout, the company is planning a move to a new Aviemore office to support its continued growth and expanding project pipeline.
