Broadband provider in £5.5 million upgrade plan
A broadband firm has unveiled £5.5 million-plus upgrade plans.
Nexfibre is set to roll out improvements across Stockton-on-Tees.
Officials say the move will boost connectivity across up to 34,000 homes and businesses, “futureproofing their needs for the decades ahead”.
They add homes and businesses connected to Virgin Media O2’s network will be upgraded to full-fibre connectivity.
The investment follows London-based Nexfibre’s acquisition of Netomnia earlier this year, which the company says will unlock £3.5 billion of international investment.
Rajiv Datta, chief executive, said: “Full-fibre broadband is a crucial driver of economic growth.
“Our investment in Stockton-on-Tees will help deliver better access to education, jobs and opportunities that can transform lives and uplift entire communities.”
