Park expansion sows tech company SEEDS' growth
A technology firm is targeting growth with a science hub expansion.
SEEDS is moving to a new base at NETPark, in Sedgefield, County Durham.
The company says the site will boost production and strengthen its presence across the global aerospace, energy, semiconductor and automotive sectors.
The move bolsters SEEDS’ presence at the technology park, where it has worked with partners including CPI and Durham University to develop carbon-based inks capable of capturing and storing energy for use across multiple industries.
It also follows the £100 million expansion of NETPark led by Durham County Council’s commercial arm Business Durham.
Jason Chehal, SEEDS founder, said: “This expansion marks a defining moment for SEEDS, as we move from research excellence into full commercial deployment.
“We are now at the point where the technology is proven, the demand is established and the pathways to market are clear.
“Each production system we deploy has the potential to support a major manufacturer anywhere in the world.
“That positions not only SEEDS, but the North East and the UK, at the forefront of next-generation materials and electronics.”
Councillor Joe Quinn, Durham County Council’s cabinet member for planning, investment and assets, added: “SEEDS’ expansion at NETPark reflects the critical role County Durham plays in the UK’s advanced manufacturing landscape.”
