Partnership kicks off talent pathway
A Midlands-based construction firm is strengthening its community impact by supporting pathways for young female athletes in football.
G F Tomlinson has extended its partnership with Derby County Community Trust to back its Female Talent Pathway, a structured programme supporting players from under-nine to under-21 level.
The initiative offers a clear route into elite football, including progression to Derby County Women’s First Team, while providing regular fixtures, high-quality coaching and a professional training environment.
Through the partnership, players will train for a minimum of four hours per week, with a strong focus on education and personal development alongside sporting performance.
The partnership supports predominantly local players from Derbyshire and surrounding areas, helping to nurture talent and create opportunities within the region.
Andy Sewards, chairman at G F Tomlinson, said: “We are pleased to partner with Derby County Community Trust and support such an impactful initiative.
“The Female Talent Pathway not only nurtures sporting excellence but also plays a vital role in developing confidence and resilience which are important life skills in young people.
“At G F Tomlinson, we are passionate about investing in the communities where we work, and this partnership reflects our commitment to creating meaningful opportunities for future generations, supporting the growth of the women’s game and helping young athletes realise their potential is something we relish being a part of.”
Chris Tomlinson, head of business development at Derby County Community Trust, added: “We are incredibly proud to be partnering with G F Tomlinson in support of our Female Talent Pathway.
“Their investment will play a vital role in helping us continue to develop talented young footballers from across Derbyshire while also supporting their personal development away from the pitch.
“This partnership is about much more than football – it’s about creating opportunities, supporting aspirations and helping young people reach their full potential.
“We are delighted to be working with an organisation that shares our commitment to supporting local communities and the continued growth of the women’s game.”
