InterComms appoints head of communications
LGBTQ+ communications network InterComms has appointed Josh Wheeler as head of communications as it looks to strengthen its industry presence.
Josh, founder of Be Broadcast, will lead the network’s content, partnerships and engagement across the sector.
The newly created role supports InterComms’ ambition to play a more active role in conversations around representation, language and inclusion.
Josh said: “InterComms has built a strong community.
“The next step is making sure we are part of the conversations shaping the industry.
“Some issues get attention. Others do not.
“As communicators, we should be addressing both.
“That means showing up more consistently and making sure LGBTQ+ voices are heard.
But this is not about one or two people. It takes all of us.
“We want more people to get involved, whether that is contributing, attending events or joining the mentoring programme.
“There is a role for everyone.”
Founder and chair Ethan Spibey OBE will continue to provide strategic oversight as the network enters its next phase.
Ethan added: “InterComms was set up to support a part of the industry that did not have a dedicated space.
“That need has not gone away.
“Bringing Josh into the leadership team is an important step for us.
“It strengthens how we show up as a network and how we contribute to the wider industry.
“We are here to make the industry better for LGBTQ+ people, and that means being more visible, more active and more connected.”
