£2.1 million investment brings new life to homes

A North East housing provider has completed a multi-million-pound programme to improve living standards for residents across a Hartlepool community.

Thirteen has delivered a £2.1 million investment scheme at Throston Grange, upgrading 297 homes in partnership with Bowburn-headquartered Esh Construction.

Works included new kitchens, partial electrical upgrades and the removal of electric fires, helping modernise properties and improve safety. 

Residents were also involved in the process, with opportunities to personalise aspects of their homes.

The programme forms part of Thirteen’s wider investment strategy, launched in 2023, to modernise thousands of homes across the North East and Yorkshire.

Mandy Carney, site manager at Thirteen, said: “We’re committed to providing our customers with homes that are safe, in good condition and fit for the future.

“It’s been fantastic to partner with Esh on the project, who share our vision to deliver homes and communities for people to feel proud of. 

“Following some fantastic feedback so far from our customers, we believe we’ve achieved just that.”

Esh Construction has supported delivery through its capital framework, building on a growing partnership that has also seen recent upgrades to a 46-home assisted living scheme and energy efficiency upgrades across 150 homes in Stockton-on-Tees.

Further work is already planned, with a £2.25 million refurbishment programme set for Middlesbrough as part of Thirteen’s £58 million regional investment pipeline for the North East and Yorkshire.
