Ladies Lunch raises over £25,000 for hospice
A Yorkshire-based charity event has raised tens of thousands of pounds to support vital care for children and families.
Martin House Children’s Hospice welcomed around 200 guests to a Ladies Lunch at Hazlewood Castle near Tadcaster, raising more than £25,000.
Hosted by TV presenter Christine Talbot, the event featured appearances from Gogglebox star Lara Fawcett, alongside fundraising games, a silent auction and a two-course lunch.
Attendees also heard from a parent whose child receives care from the hospice, highlighting the impact of its services on families across the region.
The total raised of £25,446 could fund a specialist doctor for more than two months, supporting children with life-limiting conditions, with the day also including pampering sessions and an inspirational talk to round off the event.
Clair Holdsworth, chief executive at Martin House, said: “We are truly grateful to the inspiring women who joined us, and to our sponsors who helped make the event possible.
“The Ladies Lunch not only raised vital funds for our hospice, but also showed the incredible impact we can have when our community comes together.
“Every year, we care for more than 500 children and young people with serious and complex health needs.
“Our services are available to families completely free of charge, 24/7, 365 days a year.
“It costs around £12 million a year to provide this specialist care, and the majority is funded by voluntary donations and fundraising.”
