Plans lodged for 468-home Chilton scheme
A County Durham-based housing development is moving forward with proposals to deliver hundreds of new homes aimed at meeting strong regional demand.
Avant Homes has submitted plans for phases three and four of its development near Chilton, which could see up to 468 homes built on an 18-hectare site north of the A689.
The proposed scheme includes a mix of property types, from two-bedroom bungalows to larger family homes, with a focus on providing more accessible options for first-time buyers and young families.
The development is expected to support local housing supply while contributing to the wider economy, with an estimated £13 million set to be spent in nearby shops.
Planning consultancy Hedley Planning is overseeing the application, as the scheme looks to address housing need and support the growth of new communities in the area.
Associate director Alex Franklin said: “We are working closely with the planning authority and the developers to secure planning approval for the next phase of this exciting development.
“It will also support job creation, the local supply chain and deliver a development that everyone can be proud of and create new homes.
“This is a positive step for the area and we now look forward to seeing development come to fruition.”
