Building technology firm makes city office switch

A built environment technology firm has designs on a more sustainable future after completing an office move.

NBS has switched its Newcastle headquarters to 1 Trinity Gardens.

The site replaces a hub in the city’s Grade II-listed Old Post Office building.

Bosses say the office will house more than 250 staff working across areas including product and technology, corporate services and finance and IT, and support global operations spanning the UK, the US, the Nordics, Australia and Canada.

They add the move will save around 60 tonnes of carbon a year, with NBS – which sits within construction sector data and software provider Hubexo – sourcing 100 per cent renewable electricity for its new home.

Known for a cloud-based technology platform, NBS supports operators to streamline the design and construction process.

Jo Keit, Hubexo UK and Ireland president, said: “One of our core missions is to help the industry build sustainably, and our move to a greener, more energy-efficient home will hopefully encourage others to make similar carbon-reducing commitments.

“Investing in our hubs is about investing in our people today, but also the people we want to attract tomorrow.

“These spaces are designed to support connection, collaboration and the culture we’re building together.”

NBS’ former Old Post Office base, on Newcastle’s St Nicholas Street, is set to become home to the Newcastle Centre for Writing and Publishing venture.
