Airport seeks FBO partner for take-off plans

A South Yorkshire airport is progressing its reopening plans by seeking a specialist aviation partner to support day-to-day operations.

Doncaster Sheffield Airport has launched a search for a Fixed Base Operator (FBO), inviting aviation businesses to bid for a permanent on-site role supporting general aviation activity.

The selected partner will work alongside airport operator FlyDoncaster to deliver safe and efficient services for private jets, medical aircraft and private pilots.

FBO services will include aircraft handling, fuelling and parking, alongside passenger and crew facilities, with potential for hangarage, maintenance coordination and transport support.

The procurement process is expected to conclude in May, with the successful partner set to support regional growth, job creation and long-term investment.

Christian Foster, director at FlyDoncaster, said: “We’re delighted to take this next step in the journey towards opening Doncaster Sheffield Airport.

“Our team is committed to delivering a seamless, efficient and premium experience for both passengers and operators, and the partners we work with are vital to the airport’s future success.

“The selected FBO will benefit from the strong infrastructure already in place at Doncaster Sheffield Airport, while playing an important role in re‑establishing the airport as a centre for high‑quality aviation services."

Simon Hinchley, executive director for airport operations at FlyDoncaster, added: “As we work towards re-opening Doncaster Sheffield Airport, our focus is firmly on building a safe, efficient and operationally robust airport that is ready to serve a broad range of users from day one.

“The FBO will be a critical part of our operational ecosystem – supporting daily airfield activity, maintaining high service standards and helping us deliver a professional and well‑managed operating environment.

“We are looking for a partner who shares our commitment to operational excellence and who can grow with the airport as activity increases.”
