Grimsby trio set to cast net at Barcelona show
A Lincolnshire-based seafood market operator is exploring growth opportunities as it prepares to engage with international buyers at a major international expo.
Grimsby Fish Market will be represented at Seafood Expo Global in Barcelona by incoming chief executive Andrew Oliver, alongside operations director Danny Payne and sales director Nelson Hunter.
The annual business-to-business event, taking place next Tuesday to Thursday (April 21-April 23) at Fira de Barcelona’s Gran Vía Venue, brings together seafood professionals from 154 countries, with more than 2300 companies exhibiting across five halls.
While attending, the team will explore opportunities to enhance facilities at the Wharncliffe Road site, with plans for a potential six-figure investment in new skip-washing equipment.
The upgrade would increase capacity for handling fish transported via the Port of Immingham, supporting key Icelandic suppliers and improving efficiency within the market’s closed-loop system.
Andrew said: “The Barcelona event is a great opportunity to reacquaint with industry contacts, meet suppliers and learn more about other markets elsewhere.
“The networking is incredible.
“To achieve what we intend to, you could be travelling around the globe for weeks, but everyone converges on Barcelona, and we are all together.”
