An epic walk to mark 50 years of Farrar Bamforth and 20 years of Wakefield Trinity Community Foundation

Louise is walking 50 miles in 20 hours

Huddersfield architecture practice, Farrar Bamforth, is celebrating 50 years in business this year. A milestone worthy of marking in itself but it also coincides with 20 years of an organisation closely linked to the company, Wakefield Trinity Community Foundation (WTCF) – the charitable arm of the rugby league club. MD, Tony Bowling, is a big Wakefield Trinity fan and got involved with the Foundation several years ago after taking his son to an autism sports club run by them. Farrar Bamforth has supported the Foundation ever since and is the main sponsor for the Learning Disability (LDRL) team.

Louise Davison joined the company in 2025 as business support coordinator and she’s very involved in coordinating the ‘FB50’ celebrations. Already looking for a personal mission to undertake this year, and inspired by the 50th and 20th anniversaries, she has decided to take a very active role and created her own ‘50in20’ challenge – literally walking 50 miles in 20 hours. Serendipitously, she’s also just turned 52 so it was too big a coincidence to ignore!

The 50in20 Challenge

The challenge really is exactly as it sounds – walking 50 miles within one 20 hour window! On Sunday 31st May, Louise will set off from the Farrar Bamforth studio on Colne Road in Huddersfield and walk to the Wakefield Trinity stadium at Belle Vue in Wakefield. That’s 25 miles and the halfway point. She’ll be welcomed there by friendly faces from Farrar Bamforth and WTCF and take a short, well-earned rest before setting off back to Huddersfield, completing her epic challenge back at the studio within 20 hours of starting out that morning.

Why Louise is doing this

It was always the aim that Farrar Bamforth would incorporate a charitable endeavour into its 50th celebration and the 20th anniversary of WTCF offered a great opportunity to highlight both. However, it’s more than symbolic – Louise also wants to raise a lot of money for two brilliant causes. The first, naturally, is Wakefield Trinity Community Foundation, who do such amazing work creating inclusion through things like the learning disability, physical disability, and wheelchair teams as well as supporting many people in the community. The second is a charity that has a special meaning to Louise – The Rob Burrow Centre for MND through Leeds Hospitals Charity. Louise lost her beloved Aunty Pat to MND in 2022, so this felt like another perfect cause to support. People can choose which charity they’d like to support via Louise’s Just Giving team page, or they can split donations between the two.

This is a BIG challenge, but Louise has also set a big fundraising target of £5000 in total.

She’s been training for this for weeks now and has the full support of everyone at Farrar Bamforth and WTCF.

Luke Shale, Head of Foundation at WTCF said:
“We’re truly honoured that Louise is doing this to raise funds for us and for the Rob Burrow Centre for MND, which is another fantastic cause. We’ll do whatever we can from our side to support her. It really is a testament to the relationship we have with the whole Farrar Bamforth team, which is one that we really value and appreciate.”

Where to donate

People can donate to these brilliant charities via Louise’s 50in20 Just Giving page (search for Louise Davison on Just Giving). They can also follow Louise’s progress as she trains via Farrar Bamforth socials. Follow the #50in20 hashtag.
