Barnsley darts venue on target for growth
A Barnsley-based darts venture has hit the bullseye with expansion plans after a standout first year.
South Yorkshire Darts, based on Market Street in Hoyland, Barnsley, has announced the launch of a second venue following 12 months of rapid growth and rising national interest.
Founded by Nathan Joynes and Greg Smith, the specialist darts business has built a loyal community of players ranging from beginners to experienced competitors.
Over the past year, the venue has evolved beyond a traditional retail space, hosting competitions, coaching sessions and events for both junior and adult players.
In doing so, it has created a welcoming environment for all abilities, helping players build confidence, develop skills and become part of a growing local darts community.
Its offering has attracted visitors from across the UK, while an expanding social media presence has further broadened its reach.
Nathan says the new South Yorkshire Darts Hub, set to open at the end of April just two doors from the original site, will focus on delivering a premium playing experience with dedicated lanes for hire.
It will also act as a central base for leagues, tournaments and coaching, allowing the existing premises to expand its retail provision.
Nathan said: “It’s hard to put into words what this first year has meant to us.
“The support from the local community and from people across the UK has been nothing short of incredible.
“We’ve built something really special here – not just a shop, but a place where people can come together, improve, compete, and enjoy the game of darts.
“I’d like to say a huge thank you to every single person who has supported us, whether that’s in-store, online, or by simply spreading the word.
“A special mention has to go to our amazing team, who bring energy and passion every single day, and to my business partner Greg, who has worked tirelessly behind the scenes, especially in getting our new venue ready for launch.
“This is just the beginning for South Yorkshire Darts.
“We’re excited for what’s ahead and can’t wait to continue building something that the community can be proud of.”
