Hospitality group earns green award success
A hospitality group is strengthening its sustainability credentials after securing a wave of environmental accreditations.
Cairn Hotel Group has achieved 28 Green Tourism awards across its portfolio, including 12 gold and 16 silver accreditations, reflecting continued progress in its environmental and community initiatives.
The Newcastle-headquartered business, which operates hotels, restaurants and bars across the UK, has built on previous success with four new gold awards at sites including Holiday Inn Aberdeen West, Holiday Inn Express Aberdeen City Centre, Redworth Hall and Hotel Indigo London Kensington.
Several properties have also retained gold status, while others across the group have secured silver recognition, demonstrating a consistent commitment to sustainable practices.
The accreditations follow a year of investment in greener operations, including energy management improvements, waste reduction initiatives and strengthened local charity partnerships.
Efforts have ranged from community fundraising and reuse schemes to more technical measures such as energy monitoring and low-carbon systems.
The programme is supported by dedicated sustainability leads at each site, helping to drive ongoing improvements and embed environmental responsibility across the group’s operations.
Tina O’Hara, commercial director at Cairn Hotel Group, said: “Building on last year’s success, these accreditations are a clear indication of the progress we’re making as a group.
“This kind of dedication and growth doesn’t happen by chance, it reflects the focus, ownership and daily efforts of our team across the business.
“Now, just three years into our Green Tourism journey, these results show the progress we’re making and the momentum we’re continuing to build.
“This isn’t about one-off results or a tick box exercise, it’s about embedding practices that become part of how we operate, and that stay with us for the long term.”
