The Canny Owl off to flying start
A Northumberland hospitality venue is celebrating early success after opening its doors following a significant investment.
The Canny Owl in Wooler has marked a strong first month of trading after launching in late March, following a £1.2 million refurbishment.
Situated near Riverside Holiday Park, the family-friendly venue has quickly attracted locals, visitors and holidaymakers, offering a relaxed setting designed for socialising and leisure.
Thoughtfully designed interiors, featuring natural materials and a calming aesthetic, create a welcoming space for guests to unwind.
The site features a restaurant serving a broad menu, from classic favourites to more casual options, alongside a range of facilities including outdoor play areas, a games room, soft play and a wellness space with a swimming pool, sauna and plunge pool.
Live music, themed events and sport screenings are also helping to drive footfall, positioning the venue as an all-day destination for both daytime visits and evening entertainment.
The venue forms part of wider investment by Verdant Parks, which has committed more than £5 million across its portfolio this year, underlining its focus on enhancing visitor experiences across its sites.
Mike Wilmot, chief executive of Verdant Parks, said: “The Canny Owl is offering something very different to the Wooler community, as well as visitors and holidaymakers.
“A family-friendly indoor and outdoor venue like The Canny Owl will provide everyone with the chance to enjoy time with family and friends alongside great food, drinks and entertainment.
“It really is a beautiful venue located in a spectacular spot in the heart of Wooler and I’m sure it will become the heart of the community loved by locals, residents and tourists alike.
“It’s fantastic to see so many families, friends and community members enjoying some great times with their loved ones at The Canny Owl.
“I’m sure there will be many, many more to come!”
