Grimsby Fish Dock Enterprises appoints new chair
Grimsby-based port operator Grimsby Fish Dock Enterprises has appointed Simon Dwyer as chair of its board.
Simon steps up from his role as vice chair and brings extensive experience in the seafood sector, alongside his position as chief executive of Seafox Management Consultants and the UK Seafood Federation.
In his new role, he will oversee the strategic direction of the organisation, which operates Grimsby Fish Market, Port of Grimsby East and associated marine and training services.
Simon said: “I'm delighted that our business, Seafox Management Consultants, can further support the Grimsby seafood cluster.
“Over recent years, Seafox has integrated itself into the local seafood sector and other major areas of the local economy. I look forward to working with the shareholders, directors, colleagues, customers, partners and suppliers in ensuring we operate a safe environment, future-proof growth and nurture new values within our business.”
Simon’s appointment follows the recent leadership transition within the business and reinforces its focus on supporting the region’s seafood industry and wider maritime economy.
Welcoming his appointment, director Andrew Allard, representing the shareholding of Grimsby Fishing Owners Association, added: “Simon has been an integral part of our recent change of management and appointment of the new chief executive.
“Simon has established leadership credentials in the global seafood industry as well as ports, logistics and energy sectors.
“The shareholders firmly believe the new leadership team will work effectively with colleagues across our diverse business to ensure Grimsby has a first-class fish auction market, port operations, offshore wind training services and a property portfolio ripe for expansion.”
